About Swotha
The Traditional Homes concept is to help preserve cultural heritage by partnering with home owners and converting their old residential buildings into a modern day guest house keeping intact its structural and esthetic integrity. Accordingly after 1½ years of work, the restoration of the Pradhan family residence in Swotha, Patan was completed, and the first Traditional Homes opened its door in December 2010. Located in a quiet by lane off the Patan Durbar Square, this 70 year old Newari home has been given a new lease of life and restored to its former glory.

Time honored tradition, warmth and personalized attention awaits you in the simple, elegant and exclusive surroundings of Traditional Homes Swotha. Complementing the rooms and café, a photovoltaic system for power backup, solar thermal panels for hot showers, harvested rain water for watering plants and general cleaning – all with an emphasis on preserving the old and the natural, but allowing for more comfortable living.
